29/07/2010 - Scottish Community Foundation Nominated for Award
The Scottish Community Foundation is in the running for a top prize at the Third Sector Excellence Awards.
The foundation has been nominated in the Innovation by Trusts and Foundations category at the prestigious industry awards scheme.
The Third Sector Excellence Awards are nationally significant as the leading awards programme for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprise, reviewing all aspects of the third sector.
The Scottish Community Foundation has developed a community benefit fund model to administer large funds generated by wind farm companies for the communities they operate in.
The model allows local communities to retain control of the fund allocation without the considerable administrative burden.
Giles Ruck, chief executive of the Scottish Community Foundation, said:
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the Innovation by Trusts and Foundations category. This is a growing area of work for the Foundation, and we’re proud that our robust, yet flexible, model has been recognised in this way.
“We believe that the best decisions are made locally, so we aim to motivate and support communities. We have 14 years of grant-making experience so communities can rely on our expertise to help them successfully allocate funds.”
